Description
Welcome to my ebay storeThis is the Infamous Baby Snooks /Fanny Brice character doll by Ideal. Circa most likely 1938 or so. She stands 12". Has a composition head with sculpted hair and painted facial features including a loop on head that holds her original blue ribbon bow, a wooden segmented body, flexible limbs, over-sized wooden feet, composition hands. She is wearing her original top and pants outfit in great condition. Clothes are in great shape. Marked "Ideal Doll Made in USA". Fanny Brice was a Hollywood and radio star, she started out in the Ziegfield Follies from 1911 to 1923 and various films in the 1930s and as Baby Snooks in the 1940s radio show. This doll portrays her Snooks character.
She stands 12" tall and is a Flexi doll, the arms and legs are made of a flexible woven wire material. She has her original hang tang and a little description card from years ago from the person I bought her and Mortimer from, but what is interesting is that the co. Bucherer was in Switzerland and did NOT make these dolls although they patented that flexible body and compo parts. These are IDEAL dolls so I don't know if they copied the flexi idea or got permission...

Baby Snooks was my favorite old time character from the days of Radio and B/W television. I have the Mortimer Snerd doll available in my store as well, he was an Edgar Bergen ventriloquist doll back in those days...the doll is based on that character, and I also have an old magazine featuring a great Baby Snooks article-- check out my ebay store.
These two dolls seem to go together well, and are often found together in collections, such as mine. Both made by Ideal, a great doll manufacturer.
See all photos. She will come with a vintage doll stand as well! She can stand well on her own but to prevent loss should she face plant, a stand is always advised.
