480mm ~18” inch Bar w/sliding platforms for 3D Stereo Photography by DrT
I buy the parts and make this bar myself. The total length is 480mm.
The bar is very lightweight.
You put your cameras on the two platforms (an Allen wrench is provided for this purpose) which can slide from touching each other, all the way to the end of the bar.
Depending on how close your cameras can come to each other, you can use this bar for anything to near normal stereo base, to hyperstereos.
The pictures here show my Sony RX100 cameras. You can use any cameras from DSLR, to really compact cameras like the Sony RX0.
Questions and Answers:
Do the platforms slide smoothly from side to side?
Yes, they slide by friction from touching all the way to the end.
What are the white things at the end of the bar?
They are plastic screws to stop the platforms from falling out. You can remove them but be careful not to drop the cameras out of the bar.
Can I attach a handle to the bar or attach the bar to a tripod?
Yes, there is a 3/8” hole with a ¼” adapter for handles with 1/4x20 threads.
Can I use different platforms?
Yes, the bar is ACRA compatible, you can use any accessories compatible with this system.
Can I make a longer bar from two of these bars? Yes, if you buy two bars, you can connect them with the platform. I do this often.
