Always measure the size of the duct opening (the "hole" in the duct/wall). Order your vent cover according to this size and not the overall size of the vent cover.
Entire outer size of the vent cover is equal to listed size + 2 inches on each side.
As an Example:
If the vent cover is 12 x 6 (duct opening size), the overall size of this vent cover would be 14 x 8.
1. Measure the duct opening size, NOT the outside of the existing vent cover.
2. Choose the vent cover size that equals to the duct opening. Vent cover sizing is based on the duct opening dimensions (Width x Height).
3. Outside measurement on each side will be about 2" larger in order to cover the hole.
4. DO NOT choose the vent cover that equals to the outside measurement, it will be TOO BIG.
