Please see my other Hawaiian arts listings, including .....Rosemarie E. Albright, Rose Marie E. Albright, Hawaiian artist. Early 1960's vintage oil on canvas. Great seascape titled "Sunset at Honokohau." Misspelled, however, on the painting. Written underneath the title is Kona, Hawaii. Signed lower left. Titled on back of canvas, and on the canvas frame.
A very kind eBayer and native Hawaiian has pointed out the misspelling. And he and his spouse think this is a painting of Kona Onenalo Point in Kona. It looks exactly like a picture they sent me....albeit 50 years later!
All we can figure is the title was probably written by someone else, perhaps the owner of the painting, who was playing tourist on Kona at the time of purchase. Or perhaps Albright misspelled the title. We don't know.
What we do know from our Kona resident is that it does not look like any scene on nearby Honokohau beach, Honokohau Harbor, or Honokohau National Park, all areas on Kona referenced via a Google search. But it looks exactly like Kona Onenalo Point
Placed in a fantastic period frame. Appears to be carved tropical wood, but I am unsure.
Albright was an accomplished painter and art teacher who lived in Hawaii. She lived 96 years until 2002.
Acquired from a medical doctor who interned with the Navy in Hawaii in the 1960's.
Very good condition, some minor scratches and nicks on the period frame. Canvas has a small indention on the top, easily stretched out, or left as-is.
25 by 21 inches. Image is 20 inches by 16 inches.
Shipping includes insurance. Oversized item.
