    -----------------------------------------------------------
Benitoite is one of the rarest gemstones on earth. Gem quality Benitoite is only found one place, a small area in San Benito County, CA.
Benitoite can range in color from dark blue with violet to light blue, white to colorless.
Benitoite fluoresces a beautiful blue color under
    shortwave
ultra violet light. If it does not fluoresce this bright blue color, then it is not benitoite.
    ____________________________________
I cannot state this enough, be careful when purchasing any benitoite.
Beware of the large Benitoite Gems being sold from India, they are fakes!
Due to it's rarity and steep increases in price within the last few years for good quality benitoite gemstones, there are some dealers trying to sell other blue gemstones as benitoite. Be especially cautious when buying benitoite from Thailand and other countries outside of the U.S., or "certified" from these countries. If the stones purchased do turn out to be benitoite, then they rarely live up to their "certification". If you look at the photos of their stones, the photos are always color enhanced, the stones are lesser quality than listed, and the cut of the stones, well let's just say you'll get what you pay for. Remember that
anyone can make up a "certificate" on a computer and say that a gemstone is certified. Just always do your research and "Let  the Buyer Beware".

This is one amazing benitoite gemstone.  Faceted benitoite gemstones of this size and clarity are very rarely available for sale on the open market. Since gem quality benitoite crystals rarely get large enough to cut even a clean 1/2 carat gemstone, having such clean faceted 1.39 carat gemstone is a real prize!
The clarity grade on this beautiful benitoite gemstone is ( VVS ). It is very eye clean,  using 10X magnification, I still cannot see any internal flaws or inclusions, but because I grade very conservatively, I never give a gem a IF grade.
The color is a beautiful benitoite medium blue with violet. This benitoite shows this gems Pleochroism very well, this beautiful gemstone can appear slightly lighter or darker in color depending on the lighting and orientation when viewed.
It has great dispersion which made take a photo in the sunlight near impossible, without causing the digital camera lens to go crazy.
Approx. Rarity: Only about 1% of benitoite crystals found are facet grade. Of that 1%, only about 1% of the facet grade crystals recovered are large enough to cut even a eye clean 1/2 carat stone. Less than .025 % of that number will cut a gemstone over 1 carat in weight. Of that number, approximately 10% might have VVS clarity or better. Now maybe you can understand just how rare a Benitoite Gemstone of this size, clarity and quality truly is!
Please look at all of the photos. These photos just cannot properly express the true beauty of this stone.
