Description
A superb antique early Meissen 19 century porcelain plate. It decorated with rare hand painted harbor scene. There are two men in a row boat next to a small island where are standing a man and a woman. There are two barrels and a white package with straps marked with a hexagram, that symbolizes God reaching down to man and man reaching up to God, the union of Heaven and Earth. There are a few ships on the background with sails. On the island there is a castle partly falling down. The border is yellow with fish net decoration. The back is marked with Royal Porcelain Manufacture Meissen blue under glaze handpainted crossed swords mark c.1814-1860, impressed number 139 and 3. It is 8 1/4 inches in diameter. The plate is in very good to excellent original condition with minimum gilt were on the edge.
