Description
For sale isan early cup made by Meissen in about 1745. An interesting piece being that is has two handles which is not something you come across too often from this period. Likely for soup rather than coffee or tea. It is hand painted with a superb floral arrangement to the front and back with the nicely shaped handles trimmed in gold to either side. The flowers are in the very early Deutsche Blumen style right around the time the woodcut style flowers ended. Really nice looking! The cup is in superb condition with a little wear to the gold trim on the edge and handles. The cup is 1.75 inch tall and 2.875 inches in diameter plus the handles. There is an impressed 53 underneath the cup and off course the under glaze blue crossed swords mark as shown. These cups often had a lid which I do not have nor do I have the saucer. 18th century Tasse German Germany
