Description
For sale isan amazing saucer made by Meissen in the late 19th century . While one does come across this style plate from time to time I have never seen a saucer, ever. Just wish I had the cup but it's waiting out there somewhere :) The saucer is decorated by either by Professor Julius Eduard Braunsdorf or in the style of. He worked fort Meissen from 1858 until 1906 and is famous for the most beautiful and real looking flowers on brown ground. Prof. Braunsdorf studied at the Art Academie in Dresden before coming to Meissen and is among the most important floral painters ever. This saucer is a perfect example of his work and is very very rare and hard to find. The entire piece has a chocolate / dark brown ground with three blossoms or flowers along the rim and a simple gold trim to the edge. The piece is in great condition with very minimal marks to it from use. It is marked with under glaze blue crossed swords mark underneath as well as the usual impressed numbers of the period. This beauty is 0.875 inches tall and 4.375 inches in diameter. Untertasse 19thC
