    Description

    For sale is
a nice square serving dish made by Meissen during the Marcolini period in the late 18th century . This is a pattern one rarely sees on Meissen porcelain but for some reason it became more popular 100 years later on Dresden porcelain. The dish is hand painted with a birds of paradise scene in the center including three colorful birds in a landscape surrounding with some bugs / insects along the rim and a nice gold trim to the edge. Really a very cheery decoration! The dish is in superb condition with some minor use marks and a couple of minor manufacturing flaws. The piece is 1.75 inches tall and 9 inches from side to side. Marked underneath with the under glaze blue crossed swords with the star below, a blue line and a gilder's or artist's mark along the foot ring as shown.
