Description

Carbon-CNC eu is a company specializing in distribution of carbon fibre products. The basis of our distribution are carbon fiber tubes and carbon fiber plates (sheets), however, we are developing our range of other cf products. Beside carbon fibre tubes and plates we offer carbon parts or plastic parts cut with our own CNC router. Lead time is short and shipping usually around 10 USD only. We can cut individual prototype elements and take up volumes and production.

STD tubes are standard tubes that we get from our manufacturer. Official tolerance is 0.1mm but in reality tubes are never perfect, they are good, but not perfect and tolerance is around 0.2mm, it also may happen that tubes are thicker in one place and thinner in another one. If you are getting tubes right from manufacturer, do not expect anything better no matter what sellers say. STD tubes are good for clamps that are not closed - clamps are cut through leaving its shape open like the "C" letter, such clamps usually spring out making their internal diameter slightly larger. 99% of DSLR rods that you may find on eBay are standard version. I do not take responsibility if my rods do not fit your clamps. You have been warned and you know what you are buying.

Our PRO type rods are hand adjusted. Yes, hand adjusted, it takes around an hour for each rod. First we have a special sample clamp that we use to check the outer diameter of the rods. The clamp's ID is like an ARRI closed clamp (camera base plate with internal clamping). Using special sand paper we manually adjust the outer diameter of the tube. We sand out thicker augmentative parts, adjust the entire size to real 14.95mm or 18.95mm (tolerance 0.05mm) leaving the tube perfectly round. At the end the rod slides inside our sample clamp and rotates freely. Once we have the right OD size we polish the tubes. The polishing leaves some sort of satin finish on the rods, not glossy but also not matte. The satin finish does not get glossy after clamping and it is much more scratch resistant than any STD tubes (matte or glossy standard finish). The PRO version rods are good for any type of clamps including ARRI where accuracy is needed.

Do not be fooled by some other cheap rods. We have them all and tried them all. Normal copter tubes with 1mm wall are just not strong enough for metal clamps and tubes break if they are tighten too strong. Our rods are 1.5mm or 2mm wall thickness.
