Description
After Japan had been defeated and World War II ended, the country was occupied by the Allied Armed Forces. These notes were used in Japan from 1946 until as late as 1958. This is a presentable veteran
"Five Yen"
note of
"Allied Military Currency"
from
"occupied"
post war Japan.
There were two basic types of this note. The first had a large A under the serial numbers and were only issued from July 19, until October 1, 1946. They are much scarcer. This is the more common type with a large B. The serial numbers start and end with A. The Toy book says there were 27,000,000 notes of this type delivered.
